At first-person shooter (FPS) games can be difficult to choose, especially given that Call of Duty and Battlefield have such strong franchises dominating them. A new FPS, however, launched recently on Steam that features 254 player lobbies is quickly proving itself as popular with its playerbase.

FPSs have always been immensely popular on Steam. Just look at its list of most-played games; Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Apex Legends, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone are currently the most-played titles there. While you might keep returning to old favourites (I tend to favor third-person Fortnite battle royale games like BattleBit Remastered more frequently myself), trying something different can also be exciting and refreshing! BattleBit Remastered seems to have found fans across platforms!

BattleBit Remastered took seven years to launch and is a low-poly FPS game supporting up to 254 players simultaneously in one lobby. Industry reporter Jake Lucky shared it on Twitter describing it as being like Call of Duty meets Battlefield meets LEGO; given how addictively fun and immersive its gameplay can be. Developers SgtOkiDoki, Vilaskis and TheLiquidHorse created it – with its synopsis reading “Battle on an almost fully destructible map using various vehicles!.”

Yesterday’s launch saw this game get released onto Steam – yet already, its 90% approval rating stands out among new releases. One user wrote, “Three people made a better game than most big publishers!” while another exclaimed, “Modern FPS devs are crying right now!” In conclusion, several reviewers noted the great value for their purchase cost of “Great game. 100% worth the price!” And one reader summed it all up by writing, “This game does what Battlefield couldn’t, Squad hadn’t attempted, or indeed any other title ever attempted… Sounds dramatic – but truly good fun!”

Purchase of the game can be found for PS12.79 which is very reasonable indeed, while there’s also a supporter edition which comes complete with DLC Supporter Pack 1 featuring exclusive gun skins – for PS28.06 at time of writing (correct at time of publication).
