Are You Waiting for Mortal Kombat 1 on Xbox Game Pass?

NetherRealm Studios unveiled Mortal Kombat 1, the next iteration of their long-running fighting game franchise. Rebooting classic characters such as Ryu with new looks, backstories and moves will mark this entry as well as potentially making its way onto Xbox Game Pass; some might ask whether Mortal Kombat 1 might follow.

As of now, Mortal Kombat 1 has not yet been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass; meaning that it won’t be included as part of its launch lineup. But that doesn’t rule out its inclusion at some point later; Mortal Kombat 11 already exists within Game Pass alongside fellow NetherRealm Studios titles Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat X from previous MK entries!

As NetherRealm Studios seems to have an excellent working relationship with Microsoft when it comes to getting their games onto Xbox Game Pass, we should not be surprised to see Mortal Kombat 1 added at some point in the near future. MK1 recently confirmed a Kombat Pack would be released after launch which includes new characters and Kameo fighters; taking Mortal Kombat 11’s Game Pass inclusion as evidence, we can probably expect MK1 will join Game Pass after Kombat Pack 1 releases.

As mentioned previously, Mortal Kombat 1 represents a new chapter for the MK series. Picking up where Mortal Kombat 11 left off, MK 1 takes place in an entirely new universe created by Fire God Liu Kang; many key details about its environment have altered significantly; Kitana and Mileena work together while Scorpion and Sub-Zero are brothers instead. Not everything has altered though as Johnny Cage remains somewhat arrogant and stubborn.

Mortal Kombat 1 sets itself apart from its predecessors with the introduction of Kameo Fighters – an additional roster of characters which players can choose after selecting their main fighter – similar to assist characters found in other fighting games; players are able to summon Kameo Fighters at anytime during battle to perform special moves, extend combos, or cause more problems for opponents.
