Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise continues to develop, leaving avid followers eagerly awaiting what direction the series may be taken next.

First released in 2007, even if not perfect, Assassin’s Creed featuring Altair Ibn-La’Ahad proved an ideal starting point for what has now become one of Ubisoft’s most profitable franchises.

Since it first made its debut 16 years ago, Assassin’s Creed has grown into one of the biggest franchises in video game history – offering many sequels, comic book adaptations and novelizations, movies adaptations as well as many other features.

Live-action Netflix series are in development; however, their production may be fraught due to screenwriter and director Jeb Stuart leaving earlier this year. One of the franchise’s strongest assets from a storyline perspective is how flexible its narrative structure is; be it ancient Egypt, Greece, Anglo-Saxon England or (with Jade mobile game coming soon!) even ancient China! That leads us nicely into today’s topic: the Vietnam War-set series!

Published by Les Deux Royaumes, Assassin’s Creed: Bloodstone is a two-part graphic novel by Guillaume Dorison and Ennio Bufi, released under their Les Deux Royaumes imprint.

Bloodstone takes place in 2017 Tokyo and follows Tomo Sakagawa as she recalls memories of Aleksei Gavrani a former hitman from Soviet Russia who joined Assassin Brotherhood during Vietnam war and investigated World War II historical figure Boris Pash for CIA investigation.

“Tomo, one of the younger members of a Japanese assassin cell, primarily acts as an IT hacking technician rather than fighting. While Tomo can recognize massive data misuse by clinics operating out of Switzerland,” according to Bloodstone synopsis, Tomo may or may not have witnessed actual fights taking place on certain occasions.

“Tomo follows in the footsteps of an assassin cell that attempts to carry out a project initiated during Vietnam War. While exploring memories associated with Aleksei Gavrani (CIA employed assassin during Cold War ) Tomo stumbles across experiments being performed by Boris Pash…”

“If AC ever ventures to Vietnam, I hope it takes place long before World War II,” suggested that1guysittingthere. Rusiano shared that idea further: he imagined an AC set in Vietnam during their feud against Mongol invaders around 1300 CE as possibly being perfect setting.

“Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed I am up for; any history around Vietnam War fascinates me!” stated an eager Lildak98. He went on to add, “I think it would be awesome combining gunplay and stealth elements with classic assassin weapons and gadgets from AC as well as setting traps or tree traversal.”

Assassin’s Creed: Bloodstone – The Complete Collection is readily available at all good book and comic shops.
