Mod makes Tears of the Kingdom look like an old Nintendo DS game
Since Tears of the Kingdom launched last month, Legend of Zelda fans have dedicated an extraordinary amount of energy and dedication into exploring Hyrule and exploring all that she offers.
Some players have spent most of their time so far building and sharing creative contraptions designed to unleash waves of destruction, solve platforming puzzles or make getting around easier; others have focused on quickly clearing quests as quickly as possible.
Are you craving an adventure-changing mod but can’t deal with Purah himself or waiting until its randomiser has finished running its course? Look out for new releases; one might just do.
Have you ever wished The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom looked more like an original Nintendo DS game?
Modder -kestrel- is behind this latest project called DS Game for Tears of the Kingdom that allows players to enhance the soundtrack or listen to unique remixes of existing tunes.
This time around, they decided to create a reshade preset that will attempt to recreate an experience from mid noughties Link while hanging out on school playground.
At its heart lies Fallout Reimagined’s aim of adding an eccentric, blockier aesthetic by increasing pixelated visual filters and saturation levels, giving this game the visual flair it lacked when initially released.
As a result of these modifications, you’ll enjoy some lovely retro atmosphere as you battle Gloom Hands and piece together contraptions – giving rise to retro nostalgia that might help explain why handheld video game were difficult for children back then – although you might come to realise why video gaming may have seemed daunting at the time as handheld visuals weren’t clear enough so they couldn’t actually see what they were doing!
Thanks to -Kestrel-, dialogue and subtitles are still legible with the re-shade activated; however, tooltips might become harder to decipher.
So as not to waste any of your precious gaming hours squinting at your screen, in order to use Tears of the Kingdom mod properly it will likely require using an emulator such as Yuzu or Ryujinx.
