Early arrival of PlayStation Plus freebie is announced online
PlayStation could soon announce a bundle containing both their PS5 console and 24 months of PlayStation Plus Premium subscription service.
Bundles have long been part of the PlayStation experience; usually included with popular titles like God Of War: Ragnarok or Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they often come at an impressive discount when purchased in multiples. Sometimes even offering multiple titles at one low price point.
This bundle, currently unconfirmed by Sony, will reportedly include a 24-month membership to PlayStation Plus Premium; the highest tier available of PlayStation’ subscription service which provides online play, free monthly games, an extensive game catalogue with game trials available and cloud streaming of legacy titles from PS1-PS4 platforms.
@Zuby_Tech announced their bundle on Twitter along with two mock-up images showing what its contents will entail.
Sony has yet to confirm or deny the bundle’s existence; however, Zuby_Tech’s track record speaks volumes as they also shared another bundle containing two PS5 controllers before it officially released; providing more credibility to Zuby_Tech’s leak.
PlayStation’s move makes sense given that only 30% of its userbase subscribe to Extra and Premium Tiers of PS Plus; 70% choose Essential for its lower subscription prices; offering two years at Extra/Premium Tier at discounted price may help convince more subscribers of its worthiness.
At an important juncture of PlayStation Subscription’s life cycle, Sony recently unveiled plans to experiment with cloud-streamed PlayStation 5 titles; Extra and Premium tiered subscribers would then have access to an array of titles without needing to install them to their systems first.
Additionally, PS Plus subscribers have seen various new additions like June’s free monthly titles, game catalog updates from Extra and some bonus freebies that have proven popular with fans.
