Starfield will not allow you to ride aliens or go fishing – nope, sorry to disappoint you there.
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to ride an alien, like not on their back, or go intergalactic fishing for fun and profit? Unfortunately, neither experience will be offered through Starfield.
Starfield offers plenty of activities. There are over 1,000 planets to discover and New Atlantis may well be Bethesda’s largest ever city. I can only speculate as to how long it’ll take us all just to complete main story missions 100%; reaching 100% could take even longer, given you can no longer fish for fish or hitch a ride from friendly aliens in Starfield.
Post-launch of Starfield, I expect modders may alter that situation through modding. According to PC Gamer’s report, Bethesda boss Todd Howard spoke with Kinda Funny Games and was asked questions such as, “Is there an option or vehicle available that allows players to mount wildlife creatures as land transportation modes of transport?” Howard responded “No there is not.”
Howard responded in the most general terms possible when asked by The Sun whether one could go fishing; his response was highly indeterminate: “So, is it about collecting or killing fish?” This means you might be allowed to throw hand grenades into a lake but not enjoy traditional forms of fishing like going along to an eventful outing in search of bass or trout.
Todd Howard believes The Elder Scrolls VI may be his last game; though due to no release date yet (despite having been announced five years ago), we will probably still see him for quite some time yet. Additionally, Starfield confirmed ‘Adoring Fan’ would return.
Starfield will launch exclusively for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles on 6 September 2023.
