Warzone fans believe Warzone 1 skins to be superior.
Fans who played Warzone’s original cycle had access to an abundance of Operator skins they could unlock or purchase through its in-game store, from Captain Price from Price Is Right to Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre; something for every taste could be found.
Given Activision’s announcement that Warzone Caldera would close and focus refocusing towards Season 4 Reloaded update, players attempting to join have not connected well with its playable characters.
Even though the current Warzone cycle contains many Operators, one player feels their selection falls far short of those found during Verdansk and Pacific eras.
Reddit user Local-Protection-308 claims that Warzone had “skins actually worth spending money on”.
“Treyarch seems like two entirely distinct studios when it comes to creativity and artwork; their artists seem far different and artistic philosophies even further divergent.” Usually Infinity Ward opts for more realistic-style cosmetics while Treyarch often applies vibrant hues in Black Ops titles.
Community members seem to agree on one point – these new skins lackluster. On the other hand, one player suggests they may have found out why Warzone 1 skins were better: [Warzone 1 was more popular due to integration from other CoD games that allowed that fantasy. I hope they find an avenue towards getting nicer-looking skins.”
Fans desirous of more eye-catching skins for their favourite characters might need to wait until Sledgehammer Games launches Modern Warfare 3, as Sledgehammer Games has been touted to lead development of that game. Meanwhile, more realistic approaches may remain prevalent during the last few seasons of Modern Warfare 2 cycle.
