Arma: Spearhead 1944 brings World War 2 back into focus for gamers.
Arma: Spearhead 1944 isn’t officially the new, official name for Arma 4. Bohemia Interactive confirmed Arma 4 as officially being in development during their announcement of Arma Reforger in early access last May; Reforger is considered “the precursor to Arma 4, offering players an early look into its possibilities and showing what can come”. Reforger is said to provide “an ideal platform on which they can build and mod their future experiences with us”.
Arma: Spearhead 1944 is not actually a brand-new game – rather, it is official Creator DLC for Arma 3. As its name suggests, Heavy Ordnance Works developed this DLC independently but was published by Bohemia Interactive to guarantee high standards when developing it and publishing it to players. Players will experience WWII action through Normandy during this DLC experience!
“Take up arms and prepare to experience World War II combat with all of its grand scale and intense realism as only Arma can deliver!” states Steam in their description for this DLC pack. Spearhead 1944 puts players directly in the boots of soldiers fighting from tenuous footholds deep within Normandy’s boccagage maze in order to free occupied Normandy from occupation.
“Set yourself free with an arsenal of iconic weapons and vehicles from World War 2 era Normandy! Join in the fight for liberation or defend your territory across a vast 150 km2 representation of real-world terrain from Normandy.” Command a tank, light your flamethrower, dial in your sniper scope or grab medical supplies!
Players will experience an immersive co-op campaign inspired by Operation Cobra that supports up to 24 simultaneous players; an exclusive single player scenario set during French Resistance times; or take on your rivals in multiplayer modes.
Arma: Spearhead 1944 is currently set for an “upcoming release date”, so keep this space for more updates. The Steam page indicates this by simply listing that “soon”.
