Fallout fans are revisiting Fallout 3 on Xbox, taking advantage of its 60fps gameplay and 4K visuals – an “ideal opportunity” to do so.

As fans anxiously anticipate Bethesda’s next major release, Starfield, many players remain content to revisit past Bethesda games that still hold up years after release.

From our past titles come gems such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas to Fallout 3, today’s conversation focuses on this latter title. Fallout 3 can currently be enjoyed on modern consoles like Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and recently received an impressive framerate increase on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Reddit user Eglwyswrw highlighted this change as being ideal, saying this was “an ideal chance to revisit this gem!” in a recent thread on Reddit.

Fans were in agreement, recalling fondly their first experience playing Fallout for Xbox. These fond memories set high hopes for future entries like Fallout 5, which may possibly become exclusive for Xbox.

“Just roaming through the Mojave can almost make one wish they’d downloaded a different game – wait – Fallout 3 was amazing!”

“These games can be highly addictive! I just started Skyrim recently and am already over 160 hours into it – finding new stuff and quests (not just generic ones!) all the time is quite addictive! Hopefully I’ll finish before Starfield!”

“Fallout 4 remains Bethesda’s best selling game ever”, yet oddly it still lacks frame rate and graphics upgrades despite having released in 2015. Although announced for new-gen platforms last year, Fallout 4 remains without updates that optimize it to perform optimally for its fans’ experience despite several announcements made last year to that effect – leading some fans into confusion and leading them to fear the worse will happen in terms of performance updates for Fallout 4.

“Still waiting on that Fallout 4 update…”

“Same here! I was desperate to play again but put off starting it due to news about an update last year – thinking it would come by March :(”

“We had anticipated its arrival this year; hopefully soon!”

Fans in the meantime can still take pleasure in some of Bethesda’s legacy titles – many are fully optimized for modern systems – providing an enjoyable way to pass time before Starfield launches later this September.
