The Microsoft-Activision purchase saga is still ongoing. Originally, the deal was supposed to be finalized this week. Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed on Twitter that the deadline was now October. So yes, there are still two more months to report.

This proposed deal of $68.7 Billion is the biggest gaming industry ever. Microsoft has been fighting against various companies and regulators for months to get the deal approved. Microsoft won a recent battle against the US Federal Trade Commission who attempted to issue an injunction or temporary restraining orders against the deal. The UK Competition and Markets Authority has blocked the deal.

The future of the Call of Duty series has become a major issue. Activision is arguably best known for its Call of Duty franchise. PlayStation was concerned that it could be a Xbox exclusive. This week Phil Spencer announced that an official deal has been signed by Sony, ensuring that Call of Duty would remain exclusively on PlayStation in the near future.

PlayStation fans also worry about Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon’s future. Crash, in particular, was a titan of the PlayStation lineup, especially during the PS1 and PS2 years. Although it is strange to imagine a world where Crash and Spyro are no longer available on consoles, this possibility exists. Activision or Microsoft hasn’t revealed their plans with Spyro, but it is possible that they will become Xbox exclusive. The possibility has not been excluded.

Since the announcement of the deal between Microsoft, Activision and Activision in January 2022, fans have been concerned. In January 2022 when this announcement was first made, a fan created an petition called “Keep Crash/Spyro franchises “multi-platform””. One of the comments on the petition stated, “We do not want Crash or Spyro exclusive to Xbox.” The games need to be on every console where they belong. Unfortunately, this petition received only 69 signatures. However, with the announcement of the merger approaching, more fans may now take action.
