Starfield is delayed due to Xbox’s encouragement
Xbox reportedly encouraged Bethesda, who was planning to release Starfield a year earlier than originally scheduled.
Starfield has a lot of importance for Microsoft. The Xbox brand, despite its success, has consistently lagged behind its competitor, PlayStation. It even admitted that it had lost the console war .
Starfieldwill be an opportunity to show that Xbox can compete with PlayStation when it comes exclusives. I would argue, it is vital to Xbox’s future success that this game matches the hype.
It’s no surprise that Xbox was heavily involved in the development of this game. They allegedly urged Bethesda, to postpone its release for a whole year, which fans highly praised. Phil Spencer was the source of this information. He spoke about it on the Giant Bomb Podcast.
Spencer stated: “Fact be told, this game’s ship date was significantly earlier than the one we are actually launching it in.” He went on to state that they had spoken with the Starfieldteam to give them “the necessary time” to complete the game.
It was a tough decision, but it was right. After all, in the gaming industry, a delayed or rushed game will always be bad. Nintendo followed this philosophy recently with the launch of Tears of the Kingdom in 2023. was used to perfect and fix features of the game.
The quality assurance team at Xbox has reportedly been helping em>Starfield’s /em>team with the development of the game. Xbox is assisting Starfield with quality assurance. They claim the game has very little bugs in comparison to other Bethesda titles.
It’s only a matter of time before we get to play what is expected to be Game Of The Year. It’s no secret that the pressure is on, as fans buy Xbox consoles just so they can play Starfield. Many others plan to take a week off to spend as much time as possible in the vast galaxy.
Starfieldwill be released on September 6th, this year exclusively for Xbox Series X/S & PC.
