Bethesda confirms that Starfield mod support will be available on day one, beginning April 16.
After years of waiting, it’s hard to believe we are finally at the final countdown for Starfield – just six weeks away now. Set for release on 6 September.
Starfield is truly immense: there are over 1,000 planets to discover and at least 10% contain signs of life! Over the past week we’ve explored some of its factions and branching paths – plus I learned you may play as a space samurai! In shorts released last month from Bethesda teased us about being able to decorate your own apartment and pilot your own mech, although no answers from Bethesda yet on either front; New Atlantis will undoubtedly become their largest city yet; mod support will surely start up again after being introduced from Day 1.
Todd Howard has long described Starfield as a modder’s paradise, noting its place as part of “our DNA here – it goes back over two decades!” In an interview with Kinda Funny Xcast, Howard mentioned this aspect as well, noting it not just facilitates but actually participates in modding activities by making things easy for participants, making this not just hobby but profession – we’ve had much success on that front too!
Given how comprehensive Starfield already is, I can’t wait to see how modders choose to expand it further. One modding team has already announced plans for multiplayer components!
Speaking of the size of Starfield, its base file size has already been revealed – Xbox Game Pass subscribers can download their copies early so they’re prepared when launch day arrives! Don’t be put off if Starfield seems overwhelming: its main campaign can be completed quickly enough!
