Starfield fans pleaded with each other to curb hype and prevent another No Man’s Sky situation.
Hype can be an amazing thing in many ways. Sharing in its excitement can build community before an actual release date arrives; and sharing that feeling of anticipation makes the whole experience all the more thrilling!
At times however, expectations can lead to disappointment; we have witnessed it time after time with titles like No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 where gamers had such high hopes that what we actually experienced at launch seemed like such a massive let down. While both titles had issues which justify those feelings of let-down, their expectations prior to release made the reality so much harsher than expected.
No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 provide strong evidence that anything can become amazing post-launch; some Starfield fans, wishing not to become overexcited about what might lie ahead, wish instead for this same level of excellence from Starfield developers – though that might prove challenging in practice.
Dexerto reports on Reddit that gamers are asking fans to tone it down a notch; specifically due to an increase in pure speculation that may mislead some into thinking certain features have actually been confirmed but in truth are only speculations at best.
“As someone involved with Starfield… some of what I have seen pulled from thin air has been truly staggering and full of pure gibberish,” wrote one contributor (via Dexerto).
“Many posts on this sub are detailed discussions regarding features and player interaction that won’t appear anywhere near as strongly in-game,” Tarc_Axiiom observed. To prevent unnecessary disappointment when Bethesda releases its game and many rumoured features aren’t actually there (with regards to speculation), I advise considering any feature not explicitly shown as nonexistent because Bethesda would likely show it otherwise,” final26 concluded.
