Starfield fans have expressed serious reservations that its open world sci-fi RPG will require an expansive day one patch.
Day-one patches have unfortunately become an all too frequent reality with major releases, as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor required massive updates upon its initial release for certain platforms while Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 76 game had an immense day one patch that even dwarfed its actual content! As such, Starfield fans might well feel anxious following its initial launch; hence their fears remain valid today.
Starfield is already available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and those who pre-ordered, but recently it emerged that everyone will soon be able to pre-download this RPG beginning August 9. With an estimated download size of over 125GB, this should prove advantageous to those hoping to be playing Starfield come September 6th.
Starfield may still launch on launch day as planned; however, Bethesda has made no comments regarding day one patches for Starfield; however fans who follow modern AAA releases tend to prepare themselves for such possible disasters.
Subreddits dedicated to Starfield have become a forum of conversation over whether a day one patch can be expected or not. While some fans expect at least an additional 50GB update, others point out that Starfield’s 12-month delay, along with Bethesda stating this as their least buggy game ever released can serve as indicators that such patches might indeed arrive sooner rather than later.
