Given that Call Of Duty HQ exists, future Call Of Duty games could become DLC rather than full games.
Call Of Duty titles have long been known for their annual releases since their first debut back in 2003. Though different developers such as Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward may have come and gone over time, Activision remains consistent by consistently unveiling one title every year.
Tradition has recently wavered, with new information suggesting that publisher may break it entirely and treat new releases more as DLC expansions than standalone titles.
Following the debut of Call Of Duty HQ app, which serves as an efficient way of playing most modern COD titles through one service; such as Call Of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare series along with classic titles that recently went back online will all be accessible.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will join the series when released, yet its Steam page indicates future games could come as DLC expansions.
Twitter user @r3al1tyuk_ shared this video and generated considerable debate among fans regarding how future titles would be accessible.
On one hand, organizing all your games into a central hub makes selecting what’s appropriate more straightforward, while titles you no longer intend on revisiting can simply be removed from HQ app.
On the other hand, calling DLC expansions “expansions,” but charging as though they’re full-price games has led to considerable debate about new releases; particularly whether or not they will be complete products at launch.
