Larian Studios recently gave us an indication that one of the most requested features will make its way into a future update of Baldur’s Gate 3!

What has been your wish list as a Baldur’s Gate 3 player? No romance options here: in-game character customisation has finally come. And we got there too.

Just before the game’s official release on 3 August, fans on Reddit began panicking about creating their characters. Fold-Round shared her plan: she planned on creating one character “to get through the intro, save, exit, then make another.

Redditors often joked: if you have not spent at least 12 hours crafting characters for Battleground 3, are you even playing it?”. Many players may spend longer creating character than playing actual battleground, meaning any mismatched detail in-game could spark serious outrage and lead to frustration among players.

Changeable character appearances is something many players desire – myself included! While Baldur’s Gate 3 offers an incredible character creator at its core, once your looks have been chosen they become permanent and cannot be changed later on in game.

Starfield acknowledged this threat of having to repeat the tutorial again by offering later customisation as part of their game’s offer, which Larian should have done earlier; nevertheless it hasn’t proven an issue among PC gamers who enjoy Starfield so much.

While no-one is reviewing-bombing the game, players continue to plead with Larian for changes. When one fan tweeted out “Please allow me to change how I look in game. Begging!!!!!”, publishing director Michael Douse cryptically replied by revealing things are being cooked!

Things could mean anything; though considering Douse took the time to respond to my tweet and comment back on Larian, it seems unlikely they’ll simply say, “Hooray! We got you!”. Until that epic first update goes live with an “enormous list” of changes we can only wait and see what unfolds next.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has just hit PCs, with PlayStation due out 6 September. Xbox has yet to confirm a date of its own for release.
