SEGA Releases New Zero-G Gameplay Trailer for Hyenas
SEGA and Creative Assembly released a new gameplay video for the upcoming no gravity extraction shooter Hyenas, ahead of Gamescom on August 31st. This new gameplay trailer shows off the different weapons, characters and abilities that you will be able to use, as well as some robots protecting the loot. You can see it for yourself on the homepage.
Hyenas allows players to choose from an array of heroes, then form three-person teams to attack a Plundership. These are vessels that the wealthy and rich use to transport valuable Merch to Mars from a devastated Earth. You’ll naturally want to enter, avoid the MURF drones and grab all the loot, but you will be up against four other teams in this process.
The VIP Extraction will be revealed to the other teams once one team obtains the Merch. This team must then escape as everyone tries to stop it. You’ll be fighting massive robots who will pick fights against everyone and in zero gravity rooms where you can die from any direction.
We’ve previously expressed concern about the number of extract shooters in the pipeline. These include Marathon, Fairgame$ and ARC Raiders. However, Hyenas looks like it will offer a fun mix of fast-paced gaming, intriguing mechanics, and SEGA flavoured nostalgia. It would be more fun to compete against other players in order to win a huge Sonic statue rather than regular cash.
Hyenas’ closed beta, which begins on the 31st of August via Steam, should live up to its hype after watching this trailer. Hyenas is also confirmed to be released on consoles, so it’s exciting to see what this game looks like.
