Turok returns on Modern Consoles
Nightdive Studios announced that it will release a current generation remaster of Turok 3 Shadows of Oblivion later in the year.
The Turok 3 : Shadows of Oblivion was released in 2000 on the Nintendo64. It is a first person shooter which follows Joseph and Danielle Fireseed.
Joseph and Danielle must defeat Oblivion who is also the main antagonist of Turok 2, Seeds of Evil. Turok 3 is a direct follow-up to the previous game in which Joseph and Danielle’s brother Joshua Fireseed attempted to defeat Oblivion before meeting their end at the story’s conclusion.
Features of the remaster include 4K 120fps visuals on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC, advanced rendering features, remastered art, optional motion/gyro controls for Switch and Gamepad rumble, plus trophies/achievements. This remaster also uses the latest version KEX Engine, which provides better rendering, improved graphical fidelity, and many other improvements.
Larry Kuperman is Nightdive Studios director of business. He spoke in a release about this announcement. The statement read: “The Turok Series is a classic in gaming, and to be able to offer the newest version of Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion with all its improvements is a wonderful feeling…. This game makes use of the newest version of our KEX Engine and we are excited to share it with the players later this summer.”
Nightdive has also worked on remastered versions of Turok and Turok II: Seeds of Evil. Both are currently available for current-gen consoles and feature similar improvements in graphics and gameplay.
On 14 November this year, the Turok 3 Shadows of Oblivion Remaster will be released. The remaster will be released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 via Steam, and PlayStation 4 via PlayStation 5.
