Starfield developers have already begun planning new content and updates over five years.
Starfield may only just have launched, yet it has five years’ worth of content planned out! One DLC is already scheduled.
Bethesda’s new RPG Starfield offers players plenty of activities reminiscent of Skyrim locations to commit violent crimes on over 1000 planets reminiscent of Skyrim locations, creating an RPG experience comparable to previous titles like Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Fallout series titles such as these – something which director Todd Howard of Bethesda Starfield notes is evident throughout their team’s development process for making Starfield.
Howard reported in Game Makers Notebook that Starfield was made more deliberately, taking cues from previous Bethesda titles in its development process and the lifecycles. When Insomniac CEO Ted Price asked about the complexity needs in modern games, Todd responded, “I believe complexity begins with developers; however, technology also influences this.”
“One trend I have noticed is an increasing tendency for gamers to play their favorite titles for longer,” Howard commented. “That creates expectations; when starting up something new, how does it compare with one I have been playing for some time?”
Howard discusses how Skyrim’s longevity We’veed Starfield’s development. One thing we’learned from previous games like Skyrim is that people want to play them for long stretches, as players continue playing them after release. Thus people often ask, What will Starfield look like, in three months, six months, a year, two three four five years? – and so let’s be prepared, make the most out of, and welcome this inevitable process.”
Howard did not go into great depth about their plans for Starfield over the next five years, though we know something is be,ing planned – most likely around March 2024 with Shattered Space DLC planned as their starting point.
