Red Dead Redemption 2 fans remain distraught at losing an in-game location designed to provide bonus content.
Five years after Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games remains proud of their masterpiece, and Grand Theft Auto VI must fill some sizable shoes to succeed.
Fans often praise this game’s sprawling open world as one of the finest immersive environments ever seen in gaming history. Though today the environment can be explored to a certain degree, initially, plans were in place to let players explore even further, potentially all over Guarma Island itself!
Unfortunately, during development, much of Guarma was cut away, leaving only part of it explorable; many players consider this chapter one of the more disappointing parts of the game.
Red Dead Redemption fan prince_lomon was dissatisfied with Guarma as they noted: “Guarma could have been one of the best chapters if 90% of its content hadn’t been cut down; these included treasures, secrets, hunting regular and legendary animals for food/resources/main mission objectives/side missions/main missions as well as returning after finishing Chapter 5.”
Others concurred, noting Guarma as one of the weaker aspects of RDR2; one comment read, “Honestly, I always rush through Guarma chapter because the place feels empty and missions just serve to advance the plot,” read another post. “Every region and mission in RDR2 except Guarma feels immersive,” read another reply.
“To improve Guarma would mean drastically cutting it back; its inclusion significantly disrupts the game’s pace.” One fan stated this sentiment while adding, “Considering all aspects of this game’s scope, Guarma chapter may have been unnecessary; its promise of an additional island on top of all we already had here on US territory may even have exceeded Rockstar’s capability of handling.”
Rockstar reportedly plans on developing Red Dead Redemption 3 after GTA VI comes out, potentially providing us with an even larger and more expansive map than we saw in Red Dead Redemption 2.
