A remastered edition of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is available.
Fans have long called for an upgrade of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and that may now become reality thanks to one fan who made an ambitious proposal for such an update.
Graphics advance rapidly, rendering older games such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag somewhat outdated. Unfortunately, Ubisoft shows no indications that they intend to update it to current-generation consoles; therefore, it has fallen upon modders to work on improvements themselves – one such modder already worked on remastering Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Mafia: Definitive Edition now intends on taking on Black Flag for improvement as well.
Nexus Mods user Insanity offers a mod that promises to “upgrade characters to 4k resolution, further refining their look”, available via Nexus Mods. When installed into your game, it will improve graphics for all main characters in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag without including standard NPCs but rather any character seen during cutscenes.
Black Flag, often considered the “definitive AC game,” stands out among various lists debating which Assassin’s Creed title should win out as “best.” Showcasing Edward Kenway during his golden Age of Piracy experience and its exciting combat system and epic ship battles has solidified it into gaming halls of fame; fans have since demanded its direct sequel but to no avail.
Though no news regarding an official Black Flag remaster exists, fans of Assassin’s Creed Mirage are set for launch on 5 October, and our own Sam Cawley believes it to be “an ambitious leap of faith that sticks the landing.” Read his review!
“To those of you who grew weary with the Assassin’s Creed series during its RPG games, I encourage you to give Assassin’s Creed Mirage another try; you won’t regret taking a leap of faith with it,” wrote Edu.
