One PlayStation 5 gamer experienced an anxious moment after their console developed an error requiring it to be restored to factory settings.

An error occurred while playing Diablo 4; the victim went to Reddit/Playstation with evidence. The bThe black screen displayed the an error: ‘Something went wrong: Reset to factory defaults to continue,” which suggested either challenging drive issues, Lilith curse, or some technical malfunction in PS5.

Since then, however, this user has relieved worried viewers, telling them, “It’s fine now. We had to download some stuff again, but it’s working”. While Reddit users were concerned this meant their Diablo 4 save files had been lost, Cloud save would protect as Diablo 4 is a server-based game, so progress doesn’t get stored locally.

“Saves are only stored on the Cloud if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus with auto upload enabled – otherwise, people would be severely inconvenienced by something like this!” said another comment. While another stated, “I have never encountered such issues myself but am glad all saves are stored securely within the cloud; more often than not, they can easily be reset.”

Crashes during online games that rely on server-side saves typically don’t impact gameplay as negatively, while any issues during an RPG like Cyberpunk 2077 might. Luckily, however, they are rare and are typically quickly resolved through resetting or uploading saved files regularly to Cloud storage or hard drives.
