GTA: London Return Separates fans who believe the series should remain exclusively American
October is quickly dwindling without seeing Grand Theft Auto VI officially unveiled by Rockstar Games, yet fans remain optimistic this month will bring that momentous reveal.
Starting on social media, one insider made bold statements proclaiming Rockstar Games would release their GTA VI tease on October 26. While such claims might sound credible enough at first, when Rockstar posted an image showing only Vinewood signs V and I prominently displayed… it became even more puzzling. Since then, every so-called insider has been making vague promises that we may soon hear something official – which does fit with Rockstar’s past patterns as the game is expected to launch by 2024, Still, in the meantime, fans are debating over whether the franchise should venture outside its traditional setting or stay put.
Look at this incredible Vice City Remaster Mod below – believed to be the setting of GTA VI!
Reddit user Diamondhands_Rex initiated the discussion by asking, “Would people like a GTA that takes place in London again? While I like San Andreas and Vice City and Liberty City for GTA titles, London could provide something fresh yet gritty as the setting.” However, some fans had their reservations regarding such an option.
“GTA seems so laser-focused on criticising/examining US culture,” commented AgentOfSPYRAL. At the same time, Mianbru chimed in, noting how part of what makes GTA enjoyable is its satirical content – American cultural satire works incredibly well because so much media exported abroad puts all audiences within reach.”
ArcadianGh0st provided an optimistic viewpoint: “Maybe they could follow in the style of Guy Ritchie by featuring an intimidating villain with whom the main characters must deal to escape from an imbroglio that may or may not have been caused by them – this may work for an expansion.” Additionally, RaspberryWonderful16 suggested, “Just imagine trying to speed down all those narrow streets on timed missions: what an experience!”
“It would be cool if Big Ben could ring in the distance while you punch random NPCs out!” But, while that might happen, I remain more dubious of its possibility – although we shouldn’t rule anything out!
