Hogwarts Legacy free download has been condemned as questionable advertising by fans.
Hogwarts Legacy was recently showcased in an advertisement for PlayStation Plus, and fans believe this promotion may be misleading.
Hogwarts Legacy has earned considerable financial success this year since its initial release on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms – surpassing that of Harry Potter movies in sales! Nintendo Switch will soon follow.
Recent surprises included it appearing on an advertisement banner for Sony’s subscription service, PlayStation Plus.
Horizon: Forbidden West was highlighted alongside The Last Of Us Part II, suggesting it may soon become part of Premium subscribers’ free trials or the Extra game catalogue.
Bowercw1 posted the advertisement to Reddit with this caption: “TLOU 2 and Hogwarts Legacy are being advertised for purchase as premium. In America, it has never been called this way, so is this anf error?”
While fans quickly analyzed what The Last Of Us: Part II’s image could mean for its sequel, Hogwarts Legacy fans hypothesized its inclusion could be intended to mislead those not signed up with GamePass.
After noting Hogwarts Legacy only featured on PlayStation Plus for a 45-minute trial period, another fan commented, “If this picture is indeed intended to mislead people into purchasing Hogwarts Legacy.”
One commenter responded with this quote from another post claiming they thought the program lacked transparency because its text box specifically mentioned ‘and trial new blockbusters. If it implied full access, yes, that would be deceptive, but I don’t believe they are acting dishonestly here.”
Hogwarts Legacy remains uncertain of its fate within the PlayStation Plus Extra game catalogue; it seems likely, however, as this could deplete some of its profits and, at best, remain a free trial offer exclusively to Premium PS Plus members.
Hogwarts Legacy can now be played across Xbox, PlayStation 4, PC and soon Nintendo platforms.
