PlayStation fans have denounced Sony’s free catalogue as false advertising and voiced strong objections.
Due to Sony Pictures Core being implemented onto PlayStation consoles recently, premium tier subscribers were granted access to an assortment of over 100 films that can be streamed. Some subscribers are taking issue with this new feature and calling it false advertising.
Sony Pictures Core catalog and cloud streaming were two new features introduced for premium tier PlayStation Plus subscribers this month, respectively. Anyone can sign up to Sony Pictures Core free-of-charge; its primary function is as an online storefront where film rentals and purchases can take place; premium PS Plus subscribers will gain instantaneous access to over 100 films that update regularly – one user quickly dismissed it all as garbage and false advertising though!
Reddit user ShadoHazard noted, “Sony Pictures Core is such false advertising. After spending weeks trying to figure out my issue with signing into the app, just moments ago it finally clicked for me and I can finally watch movies I upgraded PS+ for. Unfortunately all those films featured as background and marketing footage don’t come included? All we get are old B-list movies? […] Plus I was hoping Spider-Verse would come with my premium membership upgrade but alas no.”
“Their new service ‘Streaming Service That Is Included In PS+ Premium,’ and its background of triple-A movies screams false advertising,” they stated, noting Sony Pictures Core displays films such as Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, 65 and Ghostbusters Afterlife prominently when advertising PS Plus subscription. But unlike competitors’ offerings that explicitly list such movies within PS Plus catalogue as available titles; instead describing its selection as comprising up to 100 movies such as Looper (Kingglaive), Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV Elysium or Resident Evil Damnation depending upon which region subscriber resides).
Sony failed to provide an extensive list of titles included on their service, leading some people into thinking certain titles would be included. TrueTrophies compiled its list – I must admit the UK selections far outshone those available in America – demonstrating just why proper research should always precede purchases or upgrades.
