Skyrim gets an outstanding Unreal Engine 5 graphics upgrade

Skyrim remains Bethesda’s crowning achievement – though I’m confident Starfield could surpass Skyrim given some changes to navigation and starfield will experience its own comeback and take over its position at the forefront. Since it released back in 2011, Skyrim remains popular and easy to see why: its rich lore and world design offer hours of enjoyment that may tempt some to forget that graphics have advanced since 2011. One creator imagined what Skyrim might look like were it made today: see below.
As reported by DSOGaming, YouTube creator Leo Torres has created stunning visualizations of Skyrim built using Unreal Engine 5. His project involves visualising Tamriel’s cities more realistically with sixteen times greater detail – so here is Solitude (capital of Skyrim) with sixteen times increased detail.” It should come as no surprise that these results are stunning – Whiterun and Dawnstar feature in Leo Torres’ project as well.
“My goal was to maintain the overall mood and atmosphere of Solitude’s original version, while at the same time keeping to playability concerns – such as artists being overwhelmed with work – to keep this big world feeling “nature”, yet playability wouldn’t really benefit from such an expansive environment; yet its use for visualisation purposes should present no such issue – Rendered on Unreal Engine 5.3.1 using third party models modelled in Blender before being texture edited using Mixer; all models and foliage rendered using Nanite; Lumen for global illumination/reflection effects; take a look below to witness this incredible achievement!” Watch video below!
