PlayStation Plus premium tier subscribers now have access to PS5 cloud streaming – an exciting feature which has proven immensely popular among subscribers.

Cloud streaming essentially allows gamers to play certain games without downloading them directly to their console, saving space while making gaming accessible anytime anywhere. PlayStation Plus premium tier users now have access to certain extra tier catalogue titles as well as non-PlayStation Plus titles like Resident Evil 4, Genshin Impact and Fortnite on cloud streaming; resolution options range from 4K, 1440p 1080p and 720p, supporting 60fps as well as SDR/HDR. It was first made available for Japanese subscribers on October 17, followed by European subscribers yesterday before reaching North American shores by 30 October; many subscribers already had positive reactions after trying it!

Reddit user flipkick661 started off the discussion on Reddit by writing, “The latest update has left me quite optimistic […] First of all, playing last gen versions of games released for current generations no longer feels like I am making sacrifices […] Second of all, the fidelity and surround sound/HDR integration works beautifully as well; no pixelation/artifacting so far; compression shows up occasionally but mostly appears like film grain.”

Thirdly and most significantly for me is the streaming library available to us. Being able to cloud stream games I own without them needing to be part of PlayStation Plus is incredible; already I find myself returning to older uninstalled titles in my library for quick sessions simply due to ease of access. A quick check of my library revealed 241 PS5 titles; of which 113 can be streamed […] I don’t believe streaming should replace local play entirely but certainly find it an invaluable way to access my content!”

Very nicely put. This user garnered numerous upvotes, while many comments highlighted their desire to see PS5 cloud streaming make its debut on PC or in more locations – something I expect will occur once this new feature has taken root and settled down.
