PlayStation 5, PS4 system update has discontinued many popular features that were removed previously from system software updates.
As social media platforms remain so prominent in our everyday lives, having integration between them and video game consoles is always beneficial.
One such integration allows PlayStation 5 and PS4 users to share screenshots and video clips instantly to Twitter (now called X), making sharing epic or funny moments, Trophies won, Trophies earned instantly all possible with just one press of a few buttons – yet unfortunately that feature will soon come to a close.
PlayStation gamers may have recently received console notifications informing them that, due to an update scheduled for Monday 13 November 2023, Twitter sharing won’t be an option anymore as of November 13th 2023. Previous you were also able to post content directly onto Facebook – once Twitter integration goes away it means only YouTube third party social media apps remain.
Sony announced in their notification message for PlayStation 5 and PS 4 consoles that, effective November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly Twitter) will no longer function, including being able to view any published content directly on PS5/PS4, post content directly onto X from within PS5/PS4 (or link an account with it for this functionality), or post and view content, trophies or gameplay-related activities directly through it (or by linking an X account directly).
Though you will still have access to Twitter and other social media platforms for sharing screenshots and Trophy images on social media platforms such as PlayStation Connect and PS Mobile App for viewing moments later on, when Twitter function goes away the easiest option is likely going to be downloading them via PlayStation Mobile App and uploading them via PS Connect on whichever social network platform is desired.
So if you have content you want to post to Twitter, now would be an opportune moment to do it, lest the 12th arrives and create false tension!
