Gears Of War 2 celebrates 15 years, remaining the pinnacle of its series.
Gears of War is one of Xbox’s flagship series alongside Halo and Forza Motorsport; recently its second entry has celebrated 15 years!
Gears of War 2 was published by Epic Games and made its debut on 7 November 2008. Metacritic gave Gears of War 2 93 out of 100 points; only the 2006 original scored higher at that time (94 out of 100 points). There’s an obvious case to make here for Gears 2.
As an avid Gears of War fan, I fondly recall its series. Recently I revisited all five numbered entries in order to start replaying Judgement as well. If someone asked which game in particular was my favourite out of all these I’d probably give an equal answer with both being two great experiences in their own way!
On seeing that Gears of War’s social media pages celebrated 15 years since its sequel’s debut, I was somewhat dismayed as my hopes for its Ultimate Edition version hadn’t materialized like they had with 2015 remaster of original game. There have been reports about an original trilogy remastered collection coming our way eventually but those haven’t come true either sadly; nevertheless Netflix will host both animated and live action movie versions with potential Zack Snyder involvement as director!
Redditors who love Gears of War 2 have taken to Reddit in discussing its absence at E3 2018. “Thirteen years ago we only had one option – attack! So happy anniversary to Gears! Celebrating 15 years!” exulted Turbostrider27 as they shared an official Tweet by Gears of War on Twitter.
KesMonkey stated his preference to remake Unreal Engine 5 is as “still the pinnacle of its series, imo.” Hairy_bipples remembered “Chairman Prescott’s speech will never be outdone!”. When preordering Limited Edition with midnight launch bonuses he played endless hours during cold evening/night play sessions; his special memories brought back many fond memories for TheNewATeam members!
There have been reports that Gears 6 may be next, but I believe Gears of War 2 deserves Ultimate Edition treatment on both PC and Xbox Series X|S. Microsoft needs to step up!
