Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will remove its “pay to win” skin following fan backlash, according to reports.
As with most FPS games, one key requirement of being successful at FPS gaming is being able to identify your enemies clearly and be aware of who’s coming at you – however one Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III skin allowed players to blend seamlessly into their environment… and spend big!
Are you curious to see what an evil Groot would look like? Look no further than Modern Warfare III’s Gaia Skin, recently added. Resembling an intricate tree trunk, the skin first debuted in Modern Warfare II for operator Nila “Nova” Brown.
Though its concept sounded appealing, however, players complained it made opponents almost invisible – prompting Gaia’s skin to be modified accordingly in October; though not enough has changed as she is still effectively playing while wearing an invisibility cloak.
Sledgehammer Games will remove both versions of Gaia skin in Modern Warfare III in order to make necessary alterations and rework it completely. “Modifications to Gaia and Blackcell Operator Skins will soon be coming through for Modern Warfare III, according to Reddit developers.” While we disabling it until changes can be implemented across all players.
This skin was unlocked through purchasing of season six Battle Pass and required players to either level up in order to gain access or purchase additional upgrades to make unlocking it faster more feasible – an ‘pay to win’ system which proved disappointing among Call of Duty fanbase.
Modern Warfare III now holds the lowest ranking rating ever among Call of Duty games! Yikes.
