Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has set engagement records, believe it or not!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III might rank among Metacritic’s 10 worst games of 2023, yet statistics reveal it still managed to set an engagement record… somehow.

Modern Warfare III, released earlier this month as the latest Call of Duty installment, quickly made headlines for its lackluster story and only three-hour campaign – quickly earning itself one of 2023’s lowest ratings ratings.

Modern Warfare III still managed to outdo itself and break engagement records according to Sledgehammer Games, who announced on November 21 that MWIII achieved record engagement surpassing any title from its trilogy.

Sledgehammer Games announced via twitter post on 10 November that Modern Warfare III (MWIII) already set records with highest engagement since being released to consumers on 10 November. While we don’t yet have official numbers to substantiate their claim, Sledgehammer Games certainly managed to achieve something remarkable!

Although reviews for MWIII’s campaign mode were mixed, its multiplayer mode remains successful and many players seem to enjoy their experiences with it.

Regarding the campaign itself, our very own Richard Lee Breslin described it as “an underwhelming conclusion to Modern Warfare 3’s rebooted trilogy”, and as such “one of the largest video game franchises ever.” Read his review here!

Activision recently applauded Modern Warfare III’s positive reception despite it mostly negative reception, though many players were misled into believing otherwise due to it’s launch making Call of Duty: Warzone unplayable as well as rendering Call of Duty 4 unplayable with Sledgehammer Games having numerous problems to work out with regards to multiplayer game compatibility and functionality.
