Fallout meets The Last Of Us for an open world zombie survival horror experience!
Slowly but surely we are approaching an age in which every shooter becomes an extraction shooter, following Escape from Tarkov’s immense success and rapid expansion into other games.
Nakwon: Last Paradise fits this description exactly, being “a third person view zombie apocalypse stealth survival game with unique post apocalyptic life experiences and breathtaking graphics”. Wow. Quite the jargon there.
Nakwon’s marketing material boasts that players should “explore Extraction Survival and gather resources in a PvPvE city where Zombies and Survivors coexist to thrive within its unique social structure.” Unfortunately this was likely written prior to Modern Warfare 3 combining its successful Zombies mode with their DMZ extraction gameplay; therefore it may no longer be as groundbreaking.
There is currently no release date listed for Nakwon on Steam, giving developers time to see what MWZ is up to and incorporate different ideas in their game. Of course there will be obvious distinctions in tone as well as setting as Nakwon takes place in Korea.
This post-apocalyptic world is fraught with danger, though you will primarily focus on fighting zombies according to its trailer. There are echoes of The Last of Us here with stealth moments on display and tools available for distraction or attraction of zombies; one gun shot may draw in all nearby ones so going in guns blazing may prove futile.
There’s certainly room for Nakwon among all of the extraction shooters recently released or coming soon from developers like Bungie with Marathon.
Nakwon looks set to bring welcome addition to the extraction genre. More details should be revealed shortly.
