Fortnite Issues Refunds and Free Emote After Go Home! Shop Mistake

Epic Games has responded to backlash over the accidental re-release of the rare *Go Home!* emote in *Fortnite* by issuing refunds and compensation to affected players.

The emote, originally released in 2019 as part of a limited-time event during Chapter 1 Season X, briefly returned to the Item Shop on **May 4, 2025**, priced at just **100 V-Bucks**. Although it was removed within hours, many players purchased it—frustrating original owners who valued its exclusivity.

To resolve the issue, **Epic Games announced** that:

* **Players who bought the emote in 2025** will keep it and **receive a 100 V-Bucks refund**.
* **Original 2019 owners** will receive a **free Spectatin’ emote** as compensation.

This isn’t the first time Epic has faced criticism over bringing back rare items. Similar controversy surrounded the return of the *Rogue Agent* skin, initially sold as part of a Starter Pack in 2018.

Epic acknowledged the growing debate between preserving exclusivity and allowing access to legacy items. While some fans value rarity, others hope for second chances to collect their favorite cosmetics. Moving forward, the company has clarified that only explicitly marked exclusive items will remain unavailable in the future.
