Former Call of Duty Dev Compares Franchise to The Simpsons, Suggests It’s Run Out of Ideas

Chance Glasco, an original member of Infinity Ward and one of the key developers behind the first *Call of Duty* game, recently compared the iconic franchise to *The Simpsons*, suggesting both have suffered from a lack of fresh ideas over time. Glasco, who worked on *Call of Duty: Ghosts* (2013) before departing the studio, shared his thoughts during an interview with Oklahoma’s News9.

Glasco, who is now working on his own game, *Martial Arts Tycoon: Brazil*, explained that *Call of Duty* has been around for so long that it sometimes feels as though the franchise has run out of creative steam, much like the long-running animated show. He pointed out that the series has strayed far from its original direction, noting that he only plays *Warzone* these days.

While Glasco’s analogy may seem unusual, both *Call of Duty* and *The Simpsons* have faced similar criticisms over the years, such as relying on recycled content and struggling to innovate. *Call of Duty* has also encountered controversies, like the recent backlash over the use of AI-generated assets, and its latest installment, *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6*, has received mixed to mostly negative reviews on Steam.

Despite these challenges, *Call of Duty* remains one of the biggest franchises in gaming, with a massive fanbase and a lasting influence on the industry. Glasco’s comments reflect a broader discussion about the franchise’s evolution, but they don’t overshadow the significant impact it’s had on gaming over the years.
