We are currently working on our Battlefield 2042 review. We want to see how it plays when it goes live on November 19. Then, we’ll return to give the game a ten-star rating. We’ll then return to give it a score of 10.

Battlefield2042 is stunning. It is stunning and it’s hard to deny how visually appealing many of the new maps look. Breakaway, my favorite map in Antarctica, is my favourite. You can almost feel the cold and crisp air as you navigate through a snowy tundra. There will be many opinions, depending on what you like – sand, grass, open or closed space, verticality, etc. – about the original maps that were created 2042. This is especially true when it comes to which map modes to use.

You can have the time of you life, or you could get bored, spawn camped, or terribly frustrated depending on which mode you are playing. Breakthrough was the first game-type to be present at Battlefield2042‘s meticulously managed multiplayer review event. This is a point-to–point capture mode in which one side attacks and the opposing side defends. The attackers have a small number of troops, while the defenders have unlimited ranks. Take the map, and the attackers will win. Deplete enemy reinforcements, and the defenders will win. It’s simple enough. It’s also a lot of fun. You will find plenty of close calls and good choke points.

Conquest is also included under the All-Out Warfare game mode. It is basically the same thing as the name suggests. You will fight for points, destroy your enemy’s reinforcements and shoot and aim your gun . It’s simple enough and, although Battlefield will undoubtedly contain a lot more sillier content, this mode feels less focused and enjoyable than Breakthrough.

Hazard Zone is the next option. This squad-based mode can be described as an alternative Crytek’s hunt: Showdown. Four teams of four are assigned to the map and have the goal of searching for data drives. With the right gadgets, all teams can see where these drives are located. This means that you will be competing head-to-head to win them. This is the easy part. The hard part is the extraction. You will be required to perform two extractions during the game. It doesn’t matter how many kills or data you’ve collected – it’s what matters most. Being on the chopper getting you out. This mode is the most intense and focused in Battlefield2042. This mode feels more like Battlefield than a Tom Clancy game. However, if you’re up to the challenge, it could be great fun for the right group.

Battlefield Portal is another option. Portal is like EA or DICE, dumping all the history of Battlefield into one place. This is where the new tech, visuals and weapons of 2042 mix with the old mechanics, maps and weaponry from the series’ history. It’s clear that this is the best section of Battlefield.

If you want to relive the feeling of fighting on Battle of the Bulge and the Caspian Border, play these maps again is the way to go. Portal includes Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. All of these games are excellent. These games feel almost identical to the Battlefield classics, but with a more vivid visual experience and a brand new UI.

Portal also allows you to create and curate custom games. We didn’t have a chance to make our own game modes during the review period so I can’t really comment on how it works. However, players can create all kinds of game modes from this site. It’s up to the fans to use these elements to their hearts’ content.

Battlefield will succeed and feel good because of its players. That’s you. The franchise’s history is all about a man jumping out of a plane to launch a rocket launcher to down a helicopter, before landing back in his jet. This is Battlefield. It’s all about your friends jumping in a tank with you and laughing at your enemies. EA gave us a custom game and asked us to jump five more times to launch a rocket. This was the most fun I had throughout the review period. My group decided it was time for defibrillators to be used and repair tools to kill enemy soldiers. This game is all about the silly, absurd, and downright silly stuff – and custom modes will be a big part of that appeal.

Battlefield2042 will divide opinion. Some will love it, while others will be disappointed. Some will use it to access the greatest nostalgia hits they can. This game, which EA and DICE created together, is more of a toolkit to create your own fun than a game. Is it still a good game? If it depends so heavily on the community, then yes. It will be available for Xbox Game Pass and EA Play members, and on PlayStation 4 and PC, on November 12.
