Players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Shadowlands story.

Last week, the Eternity’s End patch was live on the PTR. Players were granted access to the first three chapters, taking players to Zereth Mortis.

They meet Elder Ara, an Enlightened who takes them on a journey and shows them around. He also gives them a waystone to travel between Zereth Mortis or the rest of Shadowlands.

The First Ones are gods who created Shadowlands and all of their beings, including Zovaal Jailer.

Instead of attempting to resolve many of the problems they created, they created way stones that would activate when the “Maw Walkers”, as they were called in a prophecy, reached them to assist them on their journey.

Many players get tired of being the “one seen in prophecy” hero and want to be an adventurer again, just like so many MMOs.
