Xbox to Include Adverts in Free-to-Play Games. We Hate It Already

You’ll be familiar with the frustrations of annoying ads if you have ever used a mobile game for free, which you most likely have. Although adverts are essential in the support of specific free-to-play titles, it’s not hard to see why. However, players will find it frustrating to click on ads or wait for them to stop accidentally.

Console gaming has been our haven from ads – a place where we can all spend hours playing, ad free. It could all come to an abrupt halt, good people.

A report from Business Insider shows that Microsoft has been working on an advertising network that would allow advertisers to be placed in free-to-play Xbox gaming games. This new project is being developed in collaboration with ad agencies as well as ad tech companies. The launch could be as early as July, due to a Q3 rollout.

Microsoft and Xbox have been discussing a new ad network for some time. TManygames available on the 2020 Xbox Series/ S have hhaveaccelerated these plans. Business Insider was told by sources that ads will be integrated into “for example, digitally rendered billboards within a car racing video game.”

Microsoft’s decision to include adverts in the Xbox’s dashboard was not well received by players. They also run the risk of alienating more Xbox fans if they go ahead with the ad network. Fortnite, Apex Legends and Roblox could all be affected.

Microsoft spokesperson said that they are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience of players and developers but don’t have any further information. We hope it stays this way.
