Capcom teases future Resident Evil remakes as excitement over Code: Veronica intensifies.

Capcom has hinted at potential remakes of Resident Evil as anticipation builds surrounding Code: Veronica.

Capcom recently conducted a survey asking its fans and members of its Resident Evil Ambassador program several questions regarding Resident Evil, specifically. I participated in this poll myself and can confirm many questions were rather generic such as rating the series out of 10, whether you would recommend it to other gamers and which platforms you play it on – among many more questions that came my way!

However, one particular question has thrown the Resident Evil community into turmoil – one without multiple choice options so fans could type whatever came to their minds.

As with other members of the Resident Evil fanbase, I entered Resident Evil Code: Veronica as my suggestion; though I also mentioned both Outbreak games as well as Dino Crisis for good measure. A link was posted on Reddit and thread was filled with requests to select their fan-favourite title – Hindesite said “Yeah I think Code: Veronica would definitely be frontrunner without that after-credits scene from 4R.” “They definitely appear to be setting things up for Remake 5, so this makes me believe this may well be next in line.”

“Even I, who don’t follow any anime outside of four, know Code: Veronica must happen!” said karjoh07. Porkybrah made this plea and there were numerous requests for Dino Crisis as well.

After the success of RE2 and RE3 remakes, many fans hoped Code: Veronica would also get revamped; after all, chronologically it is technically part of the fourth mainline story and features tank controls which made its introduction unique in Resident Evil games; many consider Code Veronica most deserving for remake treatment at this point in time.

Resident Evil 5 could make for an interesting remake in terms of numbers entries; its horror is mostly nonexistent while Code: Veronica features plenty of it with limited resources and plenty of RE cheese!

Capcom’s initiative in asking fans what remake they would most like next is certainly noteworthy; rather than jumping right to Resident Evil 5, why not make Code: Veronica the focus for remaking next if enough voices call out for this to happen! Let’s make this happen together!

As noted in our review of Resident Evil 4 remake, it’s an “excellent action-horror game and I anticipate replaying it multiple times over the coming months. Given how smoothly this title performs, Capcom could apply their expertise towards recreating Resident Evil 5, though that discussion should happen separately.”
