Galacticare Is an Enchanting British Space Tycoon Game
Space can’t hear my scream, which is fortunate since healthcare at my intergalactic hospital is less-than-stellar. However, if you believe yourself capable of better handling medical matters in outer space then check out Galacticare.
Galacticare adds its own twist to hospital management tycoon games that sets it apart. Previous titles that explore this subgenre of gameplay include Theme Hospital, Project Hospital and Two Point Hospital; but don’t expect Galacticare just to be another iteration a la them!
As its title indicates, Galacticare takes place in space and feels similar to Two Point Hospital and Startopia combined. If you have ever played hospital tycoon games like these before then Galacticare should feel right at home; just build rooms, hire doctors and cure patients — the gameplay loop remains relatively enjoyable in Galaticare too.
Setting allows for some truly playful design elements in its atmosphere. Being located in space, expect patients of various forms – both human and otherworldly folk alike! Alien diseases come with oddball symptoms; just imagine Star Warts or Space Invasion! Whatever may arise for medical diagnose and treat accordingly!
Galaticare offers medical staff plenty of tools for them to do their jobs more easily, with each room filled with machines to aid both diagnosis and treatment of patients. While such machines often appear silly in other hospital tycoon games, Galaticare takes this a step further by adding its unique spin – all the equipment boasts sci-fi aesthetics while at the same time maintaining an amusing cartoony spacey style to every room in Galaticare!
Galacticare boasts some great production values, featuring vibrant graphics with chunky textures, stunning backgrounds and soothing music to set a great atmosphere. Furthermore, this game also has an irresistibly charming British sense of humour, complete with an amusing A.I. I can’t talk about Galacticare without also noting Matt Berry himself (or someone doing an impression) providing voice work as one of its in-game characters!
Galaticare offers a compelling narrative presented with fresh eyes. All the hallmarks of hospital tycoon games such as SimCity are here in Galaticare; all elements present and correct; however they’re presented differently, making for an engaging yet challenging gaming experience – fans of that genre should find Galaticare quite inviting, while I myself will have much enjoyment playing through its many levels – I expect I might need my stethoscope handy when Galacticare releases later this year!
