Pornographic Skyrim mods were recently put under scrutiny due to potential consent issues.
Modding communities provide us with an invaluable service – revitalizing video games with unofficial DLC, graphic modifications or improved performance enhancement.
Today’s topic also lies within this area, though not to the same degree that many would hope. Today we shall talk about pornographic Skyrim mods which allow lustful gamers to experience Bethesda’s fantasy RPG more fully.
At this point, I usually say something along these lines: ‘Never did I anticipate writing about pornographic mods; however, with today’s internet nothing surprises me or anyone.
Are You an Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Fan on PC? Chances are, if so, then you know there are an abundance of amazing mods for Skyrim that could benefit from mods – no game has benefited more from mods than Skyrim has! Mods don’t just revolve around “Macho Man” Randy Savage or Thomas the Tank; Skyrim boasts plenty of other modders as well!
As reported by GamesRadar, voice actors have voiced concerns that AI technology has been mimicking their voices for use in pornographic Skyrim mods without their consent; even if granted they would likely opt out.
@Robbie92_, an active participant of Skyrim modding community on Twitter, expressed support for voice actors while condemning an increase in pornographic material on Skyrim mods.
“Thank you Robbie; This is really distressing and I will investigate further,” stated Elisa Gabrielli – voice actress for Maven Black-Briar in Skyrim.
Ben Diskin asked that any time his voice or biometric data are being utilized for these types of activities to notify him immediately so it may be removed. “I do not agree for my biometric information being utilized in these ways.”
Abbey Veffer, known for providing voices for The Elder Scrolls, requested it be taken down: “Please let me know if you find my voice used for AI synthesization, cloning or deepfakes as this is NOT okay!”
Controlling AI content without consenting can be near-impossible. Nexusmods, the go-to source for PC mods, issued an announcement in April 2023 saying AI generated content was allowed under their rules.
No one knows for certain how the actors, artists and content creators who are affected by AI exploitation can make matters better in the short-term, but we at least hope things will begin improving soon enough.
