Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson take up roles from previous adventures for this exciting journey.
Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson from The Last Of Us Part II in 2020 have returned as Joel and Ellie respectively for the first time in nearly 10 years since leaving those roles behind in The Last Of Us Part I in 2014.
HBO’s adaptation of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic adventure The Last Of Us may have introduced their story to an even broader audience, yet PlayStation fans will always see Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson as Joel and Ellie; no disrespect intended towards Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey who excelled as protagonists for The Last Of Us Live adaptation.
Baker and Johnson made appearances in HBO’s The Last Of Us as significant supporting cast members; both met an unfortunate fate at Ellie’s hand as one of David’s cannibalistic cannibal gang members; Johnson took an emotional flashback role.
While waiting for official word on The Last Of Us 3, fans can anticipate Baker and Johnson reprising their original roles at Halloween Horror Nights attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando this October – not exactly an official new game but still providing Joel and Ellie another reason to come together again!
SFX Magazine now reports that Baker and Johnson of The Last of Us Halloween Horror Nights theme park recorded some new lines for character.
Universal Orlando’s Lora Sauls told SFX they were thrilled to use voiceover actors from the video game in voiceover recordings as well as working closely with Troy and Ashley rerecording our haunted house dialogue, so this project was especially thrilling.”
Universal also collaborated closely with Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann – director and co-creator of both games in The Last Of Us series as well as co-creator on its TV adaptation – who wanted the horror experience in one area right from the first game.
Sauls shared, “When working with Neil and team, they asked us whether or not to focus more on Pittsburgh for their video game’s graphic representation; our response was ‘sure.” Later we learned of its popularity among online audiences; hence why Neil wanted us to highlight it.”
Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood will each host The Last Of Us themed attractions beginning September 1. At Universal Studios Orlando, it opens September 7 and in Los Angeles starting September 7.
