Sony PlayStation 5 can thank Xbox for receiving massive exclusive RPG.
Although only recently available on PC at this writing, Baldur’s Gate III looks set to make waves as one of 2023’s leading candidates for Game of the Year honors.
Baldur’s Gate III takes place over 120 years after the events of Dungeons & Dragons II, pitting players together against forces of darkness once more. As is typical for Larian Studios games, this RPG takes an estimated 200 hours and boasts 17,000 possible endings!
By year’s end, it will be fascinating to witness both commercial and critical reception of Baldur’s Gate III alongside Bethesda RPG Starfield.
Due to Microsoft now owning ZeniMax Media – Bethesda’s parent company – Starfield will be available exclusively on Xbox and PC consoles, though both versions will eventually release for other systems as well. Microsoft will put much hope in Starfield after facing difficulties providing quality first-party exclusives; some gamers even purchasing an Xbox Series X|S just so they could enjoy Starfield! It has even caused some gamers to purchase this sci-fi RPG!
PlayStation has had no trouble providing quality exclusives; however, when it comes to RPG genre titles such as Starfield on PS5, there may not be anything comparable (in my mind anyway) on PS5.
At some point in time, Baldur’s Gate III will make its way onto Xbox Series X|S. Due to technical restrictions on Series S consoles, Larian Studios has put off release until they find an acceptable resolution – leaving Sony as potentially holding onto an exclusive timed exclusive that may go head to head against Bethesda titles such as Starfield on launch day.
Baldur’s Gate III is now available on PC and will arrive for PlayStation 5 on 6 September 2023; an Xbox Series X|S release date has yet to be announced.
