EA will soon shut down several online servers associated with past games like Dead Space 2, Crysis 3 and Dantes Inferno, among others.

EA’s history of closing servers should come as no shock; most notable among these closures will likely be their decision to pull multiple Battlefield games off sale later this year, including 1943, Bad Company 2 and Bad Company 3. All will surely feel their loss keenly and so it remains uncertain exactly when this may occur.

No doubt many will be devastated to learn of server retirements; but don’t fret: these servers remain active at this writing and should continue functioning for some time to come – giving everyone time to say their farewells before saying good-bye for good.

Crysis 3 will be shutting down on September 7th; Dead Space 2 and Dante’s Inferno servers will follow suit one month later on December 8th.

Although EA has yet to confirm the closures, all three games will likely be gone by 2024.

No doubt the most heartbreaking of all three titles to die is Dead Space 2. While known for its single player experience, the multiplayer component in Dead Space 2 made for great entertainment as teams of four took turns playing as humans or necromorphs to complete objectives or defend against attacks in an intense fight for survival.

Though we will miss its multiplayer aspect of Dead Space 2, there remains the chance that it may make its comeback as part of an updated remake version of this title.

Crysis 3’s online modes, an iconic FPS that featured team deathmatch/objective-based gameplay, deserve special recognition as they will no longer exist when servers go offline permanently in December.

Nothing lasts forever, and at least we will all have plenty of memories when our favorite servers close down. That being said, there’s still some time if you want to give these games another try or simply want a reminder before their time runs out. With only weeks remaining before servers shut down forever – now might be an opportune time!
