Fans have voiced concern that Starfield updates don’t deliver enough changes
Starfield has been one of the biggest games released this year after years in development.
Bethesda claims Starfield has been years in development, but thanks to technical upgrades it has finally reached fruition. Of course, as with most games released today, post launch updates may be required in order to work out some bugs; Starfield will likely follow this same trajectory.
Furthermore, Bethesda games can often be quite buggy on launch; many remain so for months afterward. Even so, according to Bethesda itself, Starfield was designed as their least bugginess game ever; whether this remains the case remains to be seen over time.
Bethesda released several updates before Starfield launched to ensure its smooth rollout date; more have followed since. One such update arrived this week with features that players had been calling for; unfortunately not everyone found them satisfactory.
What exactly is wrong with the latest update, I hear you ask? Well it appears to be limited improvements; only four in total were introduced: Field of View sliders compatible with first and third person perspectives as well as improvements for Intel Arc GPUs on PC as well as various stability and performance fixes and bug fixes related to quest ‘Echoes of the Past’ were fixed as well as various stability and performance fixes being made by Update 1.7.36.
Since releasing of its latest update, user reviews for Starfield on Steam have become “Mixed,” with comments like, “Even after updating, this game still crashes frequently” from user deejack69 and “Runs great!” from Rocknpool being common themes among reviews.
At the end of the day, gamers invest their hard-earned cash on major titles like Starfield or contribute money regularly towards Xbox Game Pass subscription services – so it stands to reason they expect certain standards in return. We hope all fan issues can be addressed via future updates.
Starfield has just made its way onto PC and Xbox Series X|S, as well as being available free-to-play to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
