PlayStation Plus may soon see the addition of 2023 AAA shooter.
PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass offer many underperforming titles a second chance at life by providing gamers access without incurring an initial financial cost for playing them. This makes these services invaluable ways of expanding gameplay possibilities without incurring extra financial costs for consumers.
Immortals of Aveum is currently up for consideration for inclusion on PlayStation Plus; an impressive-looking magic-based shooter which unfortunately had many shortcomings that ultimately lead to its development team being let go.
Bret Robbins, former Call of Duty developer, told Windows Central that subscription services give studios access to a wider pool of players and that publishing Immortals on PlayStation Plus could expand player numbers significantly. Robbins confirmed discussions are already taking place; “Yes, we are talking to both services about getting it onto both, I don’t have an exact date but am pretty certain it will happen” referring both Game Pass as well.
Robbins acknowledged the competitive nature of 2023 was likely responsible for any potential lack of sales when asked by Forbes whether or not it accounted for his launch failing sales figures, to which he replied with “100 percent”. No surprise here; any game released this year faced tough odds when competing against Baldur’s Gate 3 or Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom; adding: “I have never experienced such an exciting year in all my years”. “This year has truly been remarkable!” he concluded.
When asked by IGN whether releasing Immortals directly onto Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus could have helped the game, he answered in the negative: “To be honest with you I don’t know. EA would have had the final say and perhaps the game might find new life thanks to PlayStation Plus being launched alongside it and finding its desired audience again. Let’s hope for its second wind through PS+ as an avenue.
