Modern Warfare 3 fans are not pleased about the addition of weapon conversion kits for use with Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3’s aftermarket parts transform existing guns and weapons by giving them additional characteristics, providing even greater weapon variety prior to Season 1. These parts are known as aftermarket components and act like aftermarket upgrades for existing weapons that can increase weapon diversity prior to Season 1 starting.

At first blush, the idea behind conversion kits may seem appealing; however, several weeks into their cycle players have labeled them an outright failure, suggesting they don’t match an alternative style of play capable of topping scoreboards once matches have come to a conclusion.

User ExtensionAd3251 took to Reddit in order to draw attention to the issue surrounding aftermarket parts, alleging conversion kits make guns significantly worse.

“I was taken aback at how disappointing these conversion kits are; attaching any to your gun not only takes up one attachment slot but makes the gun significantly worse as well.” While not everyone appreciates these kits, many players have noticed major enhancements with some weapons; “Renetti conversion kit has transformed mine into one of the greatest secondary weapons ever!” said another fan.

Others believe it could be something else hindering performance across different maps and game modes; one fan thinks “SHG [Sledgehammer Games] doesn’t know how to balance weapons”.

Contrary to what has been asserted previously, Sledgehammer Games is closely monitoring Modern Warfare 3 meta. Their November 21 patch notes contained numerous buffs and nerfs designed to maintain an even playing experience by altering some of the strongest weaponry and maintaining a level playing experience for everyone.

As Modern Warfare 3’s developer is always listening closely to player feedback, there’s always the possibility that improvements to aftermarket parts’ performance might be implemented to make them somewhat viable against weaponry that already boasts variety and firepower. We will have to see whether aftermarket pieces make a comeback once season one begins.
