Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is surprising not dead
Ubisoft’s troubled remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is still making progress after years of silence, passing another major development milestone recently.
Since 2003 — when The Simpsons: Hit and Run was originally released — there has been much extra development work taking place on Prince of Persia to give this classic adventure its new twist. Although originally scheduled to release by 2020, its development process has seen several extensions over time.
As Ubisoft celebrated the original game’s 20th anniversary, they promised more information would soon be revealed regarding Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake’s delay – yet none has even been shown thus far!
“Ubisoft MTL’s team is working tirelessly on an adaptation of this legendary tale and are pleased to share today that development of their project has reached an important internal milestone, according to Ubisoft.” “We look forward to sharing more soon!”
Fans of the series responded enthusiastically that they are pleased that more information on its remake will soon be made public, while being pleased that work on it continues instead of being abandoned altogether.
“The wait is killing me but of course would rather it be done perfectly,” one fan replied. Another thought it had been cancelled altogether.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake isn’t the only video game remake experiencing development issues right now; Star Wars KOTOR (for PlayStation exclusively) remake is also experiencing difficulty and many have claimed cancellation, though multiple developers continue working on this title.
Ubisoft is working on yet another Prince of Persia game called Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – which will release on January 15, 2024 and features side-scrolling action reminiscent of Metroidvania titles. Releasing on January 15, 2024, it promises to add even more memorable video game experiences into its iconic video game franchise.
As of publication, there has yet to be an announcement for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake’s release date.
