Red Dead Redemption 3 may or may not come to PlayStation 5.

While GTA VI may finally release, in my eyes Red Dead Redemption remains superior.

Unfortunately for fans looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 3, they might have even longer of an wait than anticipated as Sony may decide against bringing its western franchise sequel onto PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.

According to industry insiders, GTA VI appears likely to be released for PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X generation as soon as March 2025, according to everything we know so far about its development and with footage showing early build being shown all around online – with its trailer likely following soon thereafter.

Given the time and resources it requires to develop an open world game such as Grand Theft Auto VI, it shouldn’t come as much of a shock that this may be Rockstar’s last release on current generation consoles.

AccountNGT leaked this news via their post earlier, wherein they suggested GTA VI would be Rockstar’s only game released during this generation.

Given reports citing Rockstar’s decision to drop multiple projects for GTA VI development, the idea that Red Dead Redemption 2 might be Rockstar’s sole new release during this generation shouldn’t come as too much of a shock.

All this evidence points towards Red Dead Redemption 3 being released for subsequent console generations as planned, after its planned debut for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

At first, take this report with a grain of salt; this is simply speculation based on an anonymous insider comment and should only be treated as such at this stage. However, given Rockstar’s history and current priorities it seems almost certain this scenario will occur, meaning fans of Red Dead Redemption need to brace themselves for an indeterminate wait timeframe.
