While Xbox is less-than-preferred among home consoles, the company appears to be in an unprecedented period of success thanks to some huge successes and exciting plans for the future.

By making use of its recent acquisitions – Bethesda for Starfield release and Activision Blizzard through another acquisition – EA may surpass Sony in years to come as it strives to surpass rival PlayStation in market dominance.

Xbox has also done well to impress its fan base through Xbox Game Pass subscription service, unlike PlayStation Plus which often faces criticism over new additions or price hikes. This makes a strong argument in favor of Xbox’s offering over its rival’s.

Recently there has been speculation that Xbox may exploit their subscription service dominance by expanding Game Pass onto other platforms like PlayStation 4/5 and Nintendo Switch; these rumours were quickly dispelled by Phil Spencer from Xbox themselves.

Spencer spoke with WindowsCentral and dispelled any speculation by clarifying: “we currently do not plan to bring Game Pass to either PlayStation or Nintendo; that simply is not in our plans.”

However, plans exist for continued innovation of Xbox and PC subscribers over time, prompting them to stay enrolled for what might yet come their way.

Spencer said Game Pass had become one of the mainstays in recent years for Microsoft’s console identity and will remain such, looking into future ways for innovation within our game portfolio and platform. “Over five years we developed it on PCs as well as in cloud services – something which continues to expand today on PCs as well.”
