Steam users nominate Red Dead Redemption 2 as an entry in their post-launch support award contest.
Steam users have made voting for game awards an entertaining form of harassment, nominating Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Labour of Love Award (post launch support award) in spectacular fashion.
If that seems harsh, allow me to explain: Rockstar Games hasn’t provided any post-launch support for its flagship title GTA V despite it receiving high marks from fans as an artistic masterpiece; much of what makes GTA V so great comes from players rather than developers themselves.
But we will acknowledge the many subtle touches within RDR2 that contribute to its unique charm, such as hearing Arthur Morgan singing while riding his horse or discovering secret activities taking place behind open curtains. No wonder players keep returning five years after its initial release to explore it further – its longevity stemming mainly from creative players has extended playthroughs by leaps and bounds!
As many playthroughs remain ongoing, Rockstar remains reluctant to provide assistance or any sort of supporting aide for RDR2. While in recent months it’s focused more on GTA 6 than supporting its release like Bethesda has done with Starfield; at launch RDR2 developers remained extremely reluctant in offering any form of help or supporting services at all.
Apex Legends, DOTA 2, Deep Rock Galatica and Rust are competing with RDR2 for this coveted Steam award, although we doubt any have a shot given players are so determined to use this as a platform against Rockstar’s many shortcomings – something which only amps up player animus against them further! Honestly though, we welcome such brutality!
Voting opens on 21 December and runs until 2 January 2024 – giving you plenty of time to help RDR2 take home top honors! Vote now if you love chaos… or for sheer laughter’s sake.
